Create a colourful landscape of jungle vegetation and animals in the style of Henri Rousseau. Learn how to draw various plants found in the jungle, draw and colour exotic animals of the jungle. Create your own narrative through your artwork using coloured pencils and a pen

ONLINE ART WORKSHOP 2
Tuesday October 6, 2020 - 1.30PM -3.00PM
Remember the story Cuddlepot and Snugglepie by May Gibbs? Using Banksia seed pods as the subject matter, students in this session will enjoy using pencil, willow charcoal /or soft lead pencil 6B and chalk pastels /or coloured pencils and have the opportunity to create several drawings. Have fun exploring some playful observational drawing techniques used by professional artists such as gestural drawing and blind contour drawing. Students will be given images of Banksia pods to observe from or they can use their own if available in your neighbourhood.

ONLINE ART WORKSHOP 3
Wednesday October 7, 2020 - 9.30am-11.00am
Using your garden as inspiration, enjoy learning about zine books and create your own mini zine depicting the mystery and wonderment in your garden. If you don’t have a backyard, feel free to use your imagination! All attendees will be given digital resources depicting plants, insects etc. to use during the workshop. ONLINE ART WORKSHOP 4
Wednesday October 7, 2020 - 1.30PM -3.00PM
Learn how to draw The Tawny Frogmouth. With the Tawny Frogmouth Bird as their subject matter, in this session students will use willow charcoal, collage and chalk pastels to produce a sustained artwork. While exploring their observational drawing skills they will also consider the expressive qualities of mark-making and palette choice. Students can use soft black pencils or soft lead pencils (4B-6B) and good quality coloured pencils if charcoal and chalk pastels not available

Thursday October 8, 2020 - 9.30am - 11.30am
Drawing Self-Portraits using the Grid
For artists wishing to use naturalistic proportions, the grid has been used as a tool to achieve this for hundreds of years. In this session, students will use pencils, Progresso or good quality pencils and an eraser as an implement to make marks, and have the opportunity to explore the grid technique, as well as investigate a variety of compositional possibilities.

Thursday October 8, 2020 - 1.30PM - 3.00 PM
Drawing an Expressive Portrait
Have fun with ink or runny paint creating an expressive self-portrait. This session will start with the investigation of some abstract designs that explore the representation of emotion followed up by some drawing by memory and then from observation. Be prepared to draw with some unusual implements like a chop stick and the ‘wrong’ end of the paint brush. You will also be using chalk pastel, collage and some paint. This activity might need to be done in an area that can easily be cleaned or the workspace covered by a plastic tablecloth, also recommend your child wear protective clothing such as an old t-shirt or paint shirt

Friday October 9, 2020 - 9.30am -11.00am
Create a mixed media artwork inspired by Brazilian artist Beatriz Mihazes using paint and other art materials.
Students create an abstract artwork inspired by Famous Brazilian artist Beatriz Mihazes. Practice drawing geometric shapes, overlapping and composition. Learn about colour theory

ONLINE ART WORKSHOP 9
Friday October 9, 2020 - 1.30pm -3.00pm
In another playful session, you will produce multiple drawings of your family pet (or the pet you would like to have if you don’t currently have one). We will once more explore your observational drawing skills but also use your expressive visual language. There will be tips offered on how to combine the various media in one drawing. Students will also be given digital images to work from if they do not have a pet but LOVE animals. This activity might need to be done in an area that can easily be cleaned or the workspace covered by a plastic tablecloth, also recommend your child wear protective clothing such as an old t-shirt or paint shirt
